How we do Clinical / Studio Pilates at Gateway Pilates
At Gateway Pilates, our Studio Pilates sessions may involve the use a full compliment of Pilates equipment, including the Pilates Reformer, Trapeze table, Wunda chair, Barrel, Mat work and the use of special props such as Spine Correctors, Baby arcs, Foam rollers and magic circles.
We have a maximum of 4 participants per class to allow for individualized attention. We also offer private classes to allow you to have a better understanding of your specific Pilates exercises before you attend a Studio class. Our instructors may also provide home work exercises and stretches that you can do to allow you to get the most out of your sessions.
Our Pilates Instructors are highly qualified through either Polestar Pilates International or the Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute. Regular training and professional development is undertaken to ensure our high level of teaching. Gateway Pilates also offers mentoring to Pilates students of Polestar Pilates. Many of our Clinical/Studio Pilates Instructors may also be qualified Osteopaths, Myotherapists, or Osteopathic Students so you can be assured you are receiving the best care during your Pilates sessions. Our instructors will work with your health professional (Osteopath, Myotherapist, Physiotherapist, Chiropractor or GP) to ensure you receive the best level of instruction.
Assessment & Sessions
Following an initial assessment where your Pilates Instructor takes a case history, performs assessments related to your complaint, teaches you about the Pilates method and designs your program, you can choose to attend our studio session (max 4 participants per class) or you can continue with private sessions. Some participants feel ready to go into a Studio class following the assessment, whereas some prefer to do a few private sessions first. You can discuss with your Pilates Instructor what approach is appropriate for you.
Some Pilates studios recommend a number of sessions per week, however at Gateway we work in with what suits you best. Some participants find once a week (with home exercises) enough to still achieve the benefits of Pilates, whereas others find coming 2-3 times per week helps them. It is entirely up to you, but your instructor will guide you on what will be best to achieve your desired results.
Most of our clients have a regular session booked in per week, which is reserved for them only. If you cannot make that session we will be happy to offer you another available time for that week. We ask that 24 hours notice is given if you need to change or cancel your appointment, to allow us to offer your place to someone else.
