Dr Stuart Robbins
(Osteopath / Clinic Director)
Bachelor of Applied Science (Complimentary Medicine), Masters of Osteopathy.
Stuart’s journey into Osteopathy began during his time as a competitive athlete on the Australian Taekwondo Team. Like many athletes, he relied on Osteopaths to manage a range of musculoskeletal injuries. A pivotal moment came in 2001 at the World Championships in South Korea, where he sustained a knee injury requiring surgery. Through the rehabilitation process, his passion shifted from competing to helping others recover from injury.
In 2024, Stuart faced another personal challenge when he significantly aggravated an old injury after a fall while rollerblading with his children. This ultimately led to back surgery, followed by months of extensive Pilates and rehabilitation. The experience gave him an even deeper appreciation for the challenges his patients face—the setbacks, the perseverance required, and the importance of a structured recovery plan. Having navigated the highs and lows of rehabilitation himself, he returned to work feeling stronger than ever and with an even greater understanding of what it takes to rebuild strength, confidence, and mobility after injury.
Before becoming an Osteopath, Stuart earned a Bachelor of Business and worked as a personal trainer and lecturer in the health and fitness industry. He has also served on the board of directors for several not-for-profit organizations. His treatment approach integrates corrective exercise with hands-on Osteopathic care, ensuring a holistic and effective path to recovery for his patients.
After years of practicing at North Carlton Osteopathy, Stuart co-founded Gateway Osteopathy & Pilates in November 2011. He has been dedicated to the clinic ever since, helping people in Eltham, Montmorency, and surrounding suburbs move and feel better, so they can return to doing the things they love most. His passion at work lies in guiding patients through their rehabilitation journey, empowering them to regain confidence in their movement and overall well-being.
Stuart enjoys treating a wide range of patients, from young athletes to elderly individuals, tradies, and children. He has a particular interest in sporting injuries, as well as managing neck pain and headaches. His experience as both an athlete and a clinician gives him a unique understanding of sports-related injuries, allowing him to tailor treatment and rehabilitation strategies to help patients recover efficiently and return to peak performance.
A naturally competitive person, Stuart discovered a new passion for Latin and Ballroom Dancing competitions in 2019. Outside of work, he continues to challenge himself by learning new skills, staying active through Jiu-Jitsu, gym training, and seasonal sports like skateboarding, surfing, and snowboarding. Most importantly, he treasures time spent with his children, exploring the outdoors, traveling, and experiencing new adventures both in Australia and around the world
Stuart enjoys meeting and helping new patients.
